I was born in Newcastle (in the UK) in 1974 but came to Australia with my
parents at 6 months of age and was bought up in Sydney, New South Wales. At school my
teachers always commented on my drawings and artistic ability but it wasn't something I
pursued, instead I left high school in Year 9 to work with my dad - painting and decorating,
which I am still doing today.
In 2006 my (then fiance) and I decided to leave Sydney behind for the peaceful and
inspirational surrounds of the Blue Mountains of New South Wales - somewhere we had visited
time and time again, and always felt sad when we had to head back to Sydney. We
relocated to Katoomba in April 2006, married in December 2006 and eventually decided to settle
in Leura in January 2007.
It was in Leichhardt that I bought my first easle, canvases, paints & brushes (with a
gentle push from my wife) and I turned my passion for drawing on paper into colourful oil
paintings direct from my vivid imagination. I have now been painting for over 5 years and I
love every minute of it.
I had my first solo exhibition "Never A Dull Moment" in October 2006 at The Artists
Gallery in Katoomba and sold 15 pieces and 3 commissions. I have also participated in a few
group shows between December 2006 and December 2007, taking out First Place for
"Dusk" and awarded a Highly Commended for "Winter Magic" in an exhibition
in October 2007. I am currently working on new artworks for a second solo exhibition - but
with working in Sydney and only having a few hours each night and at weekends dedicated to my
art, its a slow process. I would love to have more time!
