Born in the South of Belgium, more precisely in Saint-Mard in Gaume Country, I passed my
first three years in Congo at Leopoldville (Kinshasa). Thereafter, my parents come back to
Belgium, living first in the Ardennes and subsequently in Brussels, where I am staying.
From my youth onward, drawing in my real. However, it is more precisely after the primary
school that I oriented myself in an artistic track. I first attended the Ornamental Arts
and afterwards I obtained a graduate in Graphism at the "75" in Woluwe
(Brussels). My studies in Ornamental Arts allowed me to approach various techniques, but
the colour pencil (water-coloured) remains my favourite tool.
My first job as professional was the fair copy (manual making up) in the printing
industry, thanks to this branch I evolved to the photo-engraving and the desktop
publishing.
When I start composing, I water-colours as a basis take repening it, then I refine the
whole with colour pencils and gouache, the three becoming a whole. This mixed technique
gives more deepness and intensity to my colours. It is during the early 80's that I really
began drawing, composing animals with flaring fur and feather, and people. My first works
also contained elements from the nature, that always fascinated me by its mysterious side
and that represents an inexhaustible source of inspiration, beauty and colours. However,
my favourite is the look, its deepness which expresses and reveals all feelings, moods,
both of human beings as animals. Sadness, fear, serenity, tenderness, complicity are shown
through our eyes. It is why you will often find them as a leitmotiv in my
compositions.
Unfortunately, during many years, my professional duties and my evening courses did not
allow me to devote enough time to drawing and painting. It is mainly during the last ten
years that I could work more intensively and therefore evolve both on a technical
standpoint as on the choice of my subjects. Even if some of my works represent domestic
animals, I am particularly attracted by wild animals. I had the joy and the privilege of
observing animals in their natural surroundings. I could therefore study and collect
documentation, which represents new sources of inspiration.
My dearest wish nowadays is to only devote myself to this magnificent art in order to
further evolve and pass a marvellous message : the love for people, animals and nature,
which are so often threaten.
