Donna Steel Contemporary New Zealand Artist.
Donna is a self-taught artist based in Christchurch. She has a fascination with creating
things, loves to paint and also loves to sculpt, so has managed to combine these two
passions with her mixed media artworks.
Donna admits she is a "total texture junkie", saying, "I love using different
types of mixed media, and just adore texture!"
Most of Donna's paintings contain some form of mixed media and she enjoys incorporating many
different types of texture and resin in her artworks. Donna's paintings can take several
weeks to complete because of the numerous different layers she applies to create her unique
2d effect.
A lot of Donna's inspiration comes from the everyday moments of life.., like a weekend away,
a memory she has, or driving down the road and seeing or hearing something. Donna loves the
outdoors - nature in all its beauty, be it mountains, rivers, flowers, trees or butterflies
- they all provide inspiration and seem to flow through her paintings.
Donna's work is sold internationally, exhibited in select NZ Galleries and also used in
advertising catalogues.
