I was born in 1963 in the beautiful Somerset-West in the Western Cape. In the early seventies
we relocated to the Transvaal ( Now called Gauteng). In 1973 we moved back to Cape town for a
period of 2 years due to my dad's work situation. Unfortunately we had to return to the
Transvaal and this is where I still find myself today - although I long for the Cape often and
maybe one day I will find myself back there in my Fisherman's Cottage by the sea.
I matriculated in 1981 through Grace and then studied at the Rands Afrikaanse University with
main subject being Psychology, Philosophy and Theology. In 1986 my Army life started till 1988
and then I went into full time ministry which lasted till 1994.
In 1995 I did a simple oil painting class under Deon van Rensburg and painted my first Oil
Painting - a Picture of a Flower Vendor in the streets of an Imaginary City somewhere.
After this, I stopped painting for 15 years, and through circumstances, a loving Wife and
Kids who, with various subtleties, motivated me back to Painting in 2011. And within a couple
of months I have met the most beautiful people, who became the words of my life's' song and
the drive behind painting.
I have found Focus, Hope, Healing, Perspective and Balance through painting. I now know that
in God's Painting of my Life, there are many a shaded area, many colours of laughter, greys of
tears, light blending strokes of disappointments , and many palette plastered colours of love
and care. The final touches is still daily applied by my Loving Father, His Son Jesus and His
tender Voice of Truth-the Holy Spirit - spoken into me and daily renewing me.
It is not finding chaos in perfection, but perfection in chaos.
