Swiss artist Catherine de Saugy studied painting at the Ecole des Arts Appliquis and piano at
the Geneva Conservatoire de Musique. Traveling throughout Europe, Africa, Middle East, Latin
America and the US broadened her already curious mind.
She began her career as an artist in 1992 and has sold her works, including large-format
frescoes, throughout Europe, India, Latin America and the US as well as exhibiting in over 30
galleries and international Art fairs.
The originality of her work consists in transposing the art she creates on canvas to
Plexiglas, using sophisticated technology to ombine light and shadows, strength and lightness,
movement and infinite space I chose Plexiglas as my new medium for its profound brightness,
transparency, unsettling and timeless effects. It allows me to project the many different
worlds deep within me. Swiss artist Catherine de Saugy mixes techniques in a unique way on
Plexiglas. Giving her paintings a new kind of depth, her use of paint and digital
manipulations breaks down the limits of canvas and infinitely broadens her horizons. Not
limited by space and dimension, de Saugy is able to freely express her creativity, using
juxtaposition of material and technique to draw viewers into a light kingdom that no one
else has achieved. Logan Riley - art critic Art Fairs International Magazine New-York 200.
