From an early age I had always been interested in art, gaining inspiration from
my mother, who sold her artwork professionally when I was young.
Many things inspire me to paint - from sitting on the beach listening and
watching breaking waves, walking my dog on the many coastal beaches in Norfolk, watching
endless sunsets sailing at Hickling Broad and simple watching clouds and their natural
movement.
When I feel that I have completed a picture, I put it to one side and look at it
again that evening or the following day. The reason for doing this is to detach myself
from the picture, so that when I next see it, I get a fresh look at the impact and atmosphere,
before I'm happy with the final image.
