I am involved with the exploration of the ways in which materials can be formed into works
that reference natural and social systems. This work is in response to my growing
dissatisfaction with the impact of our human behavior on the natural world and alternately, my
desire to create a world of my own design, made from that which I shun and that which I
embrace. Recent works have interactive components that allow viewers to alter the composition,
thus changing the actual perception by subsequent viewers. I have a Bachelor of Fine Art, a
Bachelor of Education in Art and a Master of Fine Art. I live and teach in Atlanta, Georgia.
I have participated in numerous international and national
exhibitions, won several awards, have work in many public and private
collections and am featured in the upcoming PBS televised special "In
Context". I have been teaching art for 35 years; I run the GASP After
School art program at The Galloway School and teach art and Surface
Design classes and workshops at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center and in my
studio.
