Figurative Art
Artwork, including paintings, are usually referred to as figurative art when they are clearly derived
from real objects and are representational. Figurative art is also often used to describe art that
reperesent the human figure but figurative art can be used to describe all artwork that retain strong
reference to the physical world.
Some famous figurative artist from art history include Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Peter
Paul Rubens and Henri Matisse.
