Pigment Pigment gives colour to paint. Pigment is a coloured substance either mineral, vegetable, or
synthetic, that is wetted and suspended in a vehicle to make paint. Depending on its physical and
chemical compisition it may be opaque, translucent, or transparent and either permanent or fugitive.
