Born on January 30, 1954 in SAINT-OMER, a small city north of France, Francis DENIS is a self-educated painter. After having devoted himself for several years to writing and poetry (it in particular created poetic review LIEUX-D' BEING with the poet Régis LOUCHAERT), while being devoted to the illustration of reviews and poetic collections and by animating an association of artists and poets in the area, Francis DENIS decided to be devoted exclusively to painting, parallel to his trade as teacher.
After one fantastic period, traditional, abstracted, he was released from the feature by approaching oil-base paint. He likes to work by topics: bathers, the painter and his model, maternities, passion of Christ… and on supports as different as the fabric, paper, paperboard or wood.
He exhibits regularly in France (Paris and province) and abroad (Republic of Macedonia, Belgium, Spain, Austria…).
Articles are regularly devoted to him in specialized reviews like Arts Current events Magazine or Art and Decoration.
“The color plays the first parts in these compositions which summarize the reason with essence. Francis DENIS seizes realism by taking care of évincer the anecdotic details to the profit of a structured minimalism, often reduced to extremely simplified geometrical structures. Working by topic, it underlines contours of the subject in a setting in very simplifying scene. Very noticed with the Linéart living room of Ghent, works of this artist will appear in the ogee mouldings of international galleries. ”
