Established in 1978, the S.H. Ervin Gallery is one of Sydney's premier art galleries
presenting an engaging program of changing exhibitions throughout the year. The Gallery is
recognised for its program of important exhibitions that examine issues and themes in Australian art
and present it in new contexts.
The vision for the S H Ervin Gallery is to be a public gallery of excellence exhibiting and
interpreting historical, traditional and contemporary Australian art. Annual exhibitions
include the Salon des Refuses (the alternative Archibald & Wynne Prizes)and Portia Geach
Memorial Award, the annual portait prize for Australian women artists.
