There is a compelling need in Nigeria for alternative gallery spaces that bridge the
gap between commercial galleries and traditional art institutions; spaces which allow artists and
curators to innovate with shows that do not fit into the existing art market or framework. With this
in mind, The Thought Pyramid has established a Space in the heart of Abuja to enable new ideas to be
incubated and nurtured, where the barriers between art, craft and design can be broken, and where
debates can be stirred to move the dialogue on African art in new directions.
