Merlyn Evans was born in Cardiff, Wales 1910 - 1973

Art Education
- Merlyn Evans studied art at Glasgow School of Art
- 1927 – 1931 Merlyn Evans studied art at Royal College of Art, London (won Haldane Traveling Scholarship and Royal Exhibition prize).

Short Artist Biography
- 1936 Merlyn Evans traveled in Europe.
- 1938 Merlyn Evans came to South Africa to take up appointment as art lecturer at Natal Tech Art School, Durban; member of Durban Art Gallery Advisory Committee.
- 1941 Served in South African Forces ‘up North’; returned to London after World War 2; lectured at Central School of Art. Merlyn Evans enjoyed a career of singular success after returning to England; especially celebrated for his etchings.

- 1936 – 1941 South African Academy Exhibitions, Johannesburg; one-man art exhibition, Durban Art Gallery.

- 1973 Retrospective Art Exhibition, Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
