Historical Artist - Felice Giani (1758 - 1823)
Felice Giani first studied in Bologna at the Accademia Clementina and the Accademia di San Luca
from 1780 to 1783 under Pompeo Batoni. He was strongly influenced by Ancient Greek and Roman
art, Michelangelo, Raphael, and other classicist artists. Giani worked on commissions for
Napolean. He entered the Roman Accademia di San Luca and was elected to the Congregation of the
Virtuosi of the Pantheon in 1819.
