Historical Artist - Albert Gleizes (1881 - 1953)
Albert Gleizes painted in the style of the Impressionists until he encountered Cubism in 1909.
Three years later, he co-founded the Section d’Or group and also co-wrote the book Du
Cubisme. Written with Metzinger’s help, it was the first book about the movement. His
later art served as an attempt to unite medieval and modern art through Christian subject matter
and Cubist form.
