Rory Coleman was born in Wexford, Ireland. He began studying animation in Ballyfermot College
Dublin in 1999, graduating three years later. However, Rory felt he needed to pursue a more
personal form of artistic expression. Rory began to paint intently in a variety of styles and
mediums, while also producing numerous commissioned portraits. Since then Rory has become a
much sought after portrait artist, renowned for the detail and depth in the subjects depicted.
Rory's painting work is influenced strongly by people, animals, nature, and his love of
music, in particular old American blues. Visits to the Southern states of America - Memphis,
Nashville and New Orleans have had a profound influence on his paintings.
Rory has exhibited widely in the south of Ireland, with his paintings now in many private and
public collections, including the Irish state art collection.
Rory's forthcoming works are to be broadly based on blues music.
Rory currently resides in the South East of Ireland.
